Empowering Development Project Incorporated (EDP) celebrated its 10th anniversary in New York. The event took place on Friday, April 26, at a restaurant in Rego Park, New York.

For many years, EDP has been working to support underprivileged women in New York in achieving financial independence by offering skills training, microloans for small businesses, vocational education, and entrepreneurial support.

Ambia Begum Antora, the founder and executive director of EDP, stated, “Almost 10 years ago, we embarked on this journey with a far-reaching vision. Our goal has been to assist women in gaining financial independence through skills development, microloans, vocational training, and entrepreneurial support. We are truly delighted to be celebrating the organization’s 10th anniversary today.”

She added that to enhance women’s decision-making roles, EDP provides literacy programs, scholarships, and leadership training, enabling women to actively participate in both society and governance. The organization also aims to improve access to healthcare, maternal care, and nutrition programs, raise awareness about women's rights, help prevent gender-based violence, advocate for policy changes in favor of gender equality, and encourage women to take active roles in community development through cooperatives, agricultural initiatives, and environmental programs.
